Dolly is an original mixed media painting celebrating one of country music’s most unmistakable icons and the spirit she represents: wit, ambition, femininity, resilience, and the confidence to become entirely yourself.

Built through layers of paint, drawing, collage, scraping, and partially obscured marks, the piece moves between portraiture and abstraction. Dolly emerges through a handful of familiar details: the oversized cowboy hat, blonde curls, tiny red earring, and a collaged paper yoke. A butterfly nearly disappears into the layered background, while fragments of color and handwritten marks reveal themselves slowly across the surface.

Rather than a traditional portrait, Dolly is an interpretation of a woman who made an art form out of creating herself.
